An army of evil, named "Dark Shadows", have been ravaging the country like a plague of locusts
for over a year and are frightening the people with their scary get-up. Most people still think they are monsters.
But they are only in disguise.

While you were away these monsters stormed the castle. A woman named Katerina has been kidnapped.
It is not just any woman. You are in love with her. They’ve also taken all the gold. All the taxes. And weapons!

You are the only one who can help Katarina.
You must hurry and follow them before they do something to her.

Gameplay: The player fights his way through 19 levels. Various weapons will be available. They can be found in different levels.
First of all you need to find a sword. Most of the time, the player has to fight against enemies.
But he has to do also other little things and must solve certain problems.
You need keyboard and mouse.

Notes and questions:
Some older computers are asking to use ffdshow after start of Dark Shadows.
Allow it. It will be used to play videos and music in the background of the game.

The game seems to need a long time for starting or continuing. Is this an error?
No. Some neccesarry parts will be extracted and prepared at the beginning. This can take some time and depends also on the computer.
The loading time between the level is then faster.

Where is the savegame directory?
Dark Shadows is saving the savegame- and configuration files directly into the DSAOE documents folder.

How can I change the language from english to german and from german to english?
You can find a button on the right bottom corner of the main menu. One click is enough.

Is there any way to turn off the blood effects?
Yes, of course. You can turn them off in the settings menu of the game.
